One of the batting stalwarts of Bangladesh cricket, Mushfiqur Rahim, escaped an injury scare after a ball hit him on his right thumb during a practice session on Wednesday.

As the pain was serious, he was sent for an X-ray which revealed no fracture but he was withdrawn from the practice session.

BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury said after having looked at the X- Ray report, that there was nothing to worry about.

“He has some pain in his finger after being hit. X-Ray revealed that there was no fracture in his hand. I don’t think there is anything to be worried about, but since he did get hurt today (Wednesday), he did not bat any further and will rest for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure,” said Dr. Debashish.

Bangladesh are training ahead of the second Test against West Indies, scheduled for November 30. With Tamim Iqbal continuing to miss the Test series because of side strain, Bangladesh’s batting heavily relies on Mushfiqur Rahim who himself is in nice form. So his injury scare created a panic, which only subdued after the doctor’s confirmation.

“I think he is alright now. As far as I know, he will play the match,” confirmed Mominul Haque.
