Bangladesh Taijul Islam said on Monday that he is inspired to do well in the presence of Shakib al Hasan as it inspires him to be close to the ace all-rounder but insisted there is no way both can be compared.

Taijul picked six wickets in the second innings to steal all the lime light Shakib Al Hasan claimed the plaudits on the third and ultimately final day of the first Test against the West Indies as he set a world record.

Since picking up a maiden five-wicket haul on his Test debut against the same opposition four years ago, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam has never looked back and the understated 26-year-old -- now established as one of the most important members of the Bangladesh Test side -- picked up six wickets in the second innings as the visitors folded for 139 in chase of a 204-run target.

‘’Whether it is in Asia or away there is no one who can be compared to Shakib bhai. Still when I pick wickets when there is Shakib bhai around it is really satisfying as it inspires me to do well thinking though I won’t be like Shakib bhai at least I can go close to him someday. You can compare Shakib bhai with Shakib bhai only,’’ said Taijul adding that he is not thinking too much about earning the fastest 100 wicket haul for the country.

Taijul picked 94 wickets in 22 Tests, and have all the chances earn the fastest 100 Test wicket for Bangladesh as become the fastest to 100 scalps as his nearest rival Shakib picked it in 28 Test matches.

‘’I am not thinking anything about it[ fastest 100 Test wicket for Bangladesh]. If there is wicket in my fate I will get otherwise not so I only need to concentrate on bowling in the right area as it gives you a better chance of picking wickets,’’ he added.

Taijul added that he is ready to battle it out on his own as he is accustomed to work alone when there is no Test around. ‘’At that point [when there is no Test cricket around] if there is domestic competition I play there or else do my individual training session.
