National team is open for all: Nasir Hossain

Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain is eyeing to make a comeback in the national team through the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, scheduled to start on January 5.
The talismanic batsman was an integral part of the national setup, before he needed to undergo a surgery for torn ligament after allegedly injuring his knee while playing football eight months ago. He began his new mission at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday (November 25).

“BPL can be a turning point [in my career]. Much depends on the performance there,” Nasir told reporters.
According to the 26-year-old, it is easier for new performers to make it to the national team than the ones that have been tried and tested. He, however, understands the need to meet expectations and is determined to mount a strong comeback.
He said: “It is now easier for new players to join the national team. It is difficult for those to return, who have gone out of the national team after playing. If the newcomers perform a little bit, it attracts more attention. And those who were dropped [from the national team], cannot take the limelight even if they perform well. The reason could be the high expectations for them.
“I'm out of the team now. I’ll have to return by playing way better than the new players. It does not mean that I can’t play [for the national team]. I believe, the national team is open for all.
“I don’t think anyone can be kept outside [the national team] if they perform. For now, I am thinking how fast I can be hundred percent fit. If I can perform, the call-up will follow. I’ll try to get the place back by performing.”
