Warrican urges WI batsmen to trust on defense

Sensing that Bangladesh spinners are licking their lips at the thought of bowling on the wicket of Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican urged their batsmen to trust on their defence.
The pitch has already been touted as ‘unpredictable’ by Mominul Haque, who after day one of the first Test straightway revealed that he didn’t believe this pitch.

The same thing is on the mind of Warrican also despite watching Bangladeshi batsman amass 315 runs on the board on the very first day.
“It is going to be a challenge as the wicket is turning from day one. The wicket will become more difficult as it goes through more wear and tear. It is key to bowl them out quickly tomorrow. To bat well here, we must trust our defence because Bangladesh have quality spinners,” Warrican said.
“It is very good for batting but assists the spinners. I think the spinners can get something out of it if they bowl in the right areas. Also, the ball is coming on well for the batsmen but the bounce is inconsistent. You have to watch it closely.
“I thought Kraigg was doing a good job, putting back the economy rate. A specialist spinner could have bowled and got a wicket but the team plan was to put back the economy rate and Kraigg was doing a good job.”
