Maturity comes first for Shadman

Uncapped opener Shadman Islam thinks that his experience in the domestic circuit will pay dividend in the international arena.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday included the opening batsman in their squad for the Shadman Test against West Indies, scheduled to start from November 22 in Chattogram.
The 23-year-old was rewarded after he provided a brilliant batting display against the visitors in the lone warm-up game where he smashed 73 off 169 balls with 10 fours and a six at the MA Aziz Stadium.

The left-hander shared a 126-run in the opening stand with fellow Test squad member Soumya Sarkar in the drawn two-day game.
Shadman has been a prolific run scorer in domestic cricket over the last few years and was the highest scorer with 648 runs in six matches in the recently-concluded National Cricket League.
“I have been playing first-class cricket for a long time now; it is about four-five years already. It is right (that chance of national call delayed) considering the way I have been playing. I think it is good to earn a national call after being matured,” Shadman told reporters on Monday.
“I think I am matured now after playing a long time. I think I played well in the practice-match which perhaps induced the selectors to consider me for the national team.
“It is really important to get matured to play for the national team. There is a big difference between Test cricket and first-class cricket. Since I have played mane first-class matches, I know how to decorate an innings in the longer version cricket. I think it will increase my chance to play better cricket in the international circuit,” he said.
Shadman previously represented Bangladesh A and Bangladesh Under-19 teams as well. He is expected to be a likewise replacement for Tamim Iqbal, whose comeback was delayed by a fresh injury in a recent training session.
