Lack of fielding heroes is a big obstruction toward developing world-class fielders for Tigers, observed Bangladesh fielding consultant Ryan Cook.

While there are a lot of stars when it comes to bowling and batting department it is not the same when it comes for Bangladesh’s fielding unit,

Bangladesh fielding unit is often criticized due to their lack of application and skill set that is regarded as a big difference between them and some other cricketing giants of the world.

Cook said that he did not find a difference in attitude between South Africa and Bangladesh when it comes to fielding and hoped it is a matter of time when they start producing better fielders after the current group of players starts to aspire others.

“I have been very impressed with the Bangladesh attitude to fielding The progress and improvement that the guys have made have been outstanding. So there is no real difference in attitude,” Cook told reporters at Jahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.

“The standards of the fielding – in South Africa, we’ve got a lot of players one can aspire to – Jonty Rhodes and Herschelle Gibbs, whereas these players are the aspiring players, so just to get them better and better.

“Yeah, sometimes lack of heroes [can be de-motivating] and I think they must set their own standards and they must be the best fielding team in the world. And there is no doubt we are capable of doing that,” he added.
