Bangladesh fielding consultant Ryan Cook insisted Tigers are disappointed to miss couple of catches in their last Test against Zimbabwe and vowed not to make similar mistakes.

Bangladesh performance as a fielding unit was awful in the second Test as they dropped at least in the entire match. Khaled Ahmed, who was playing his second game, was most effected from the bizarre fielding display as couple of catches went by slip and gully cordon during his bowling.

‘’I think the chances were tough to start with [in the second Test]. In the first Test we caught 91 per cent of the catches, which I thought was outstanding – pretty much world-class,’’ said Cook. In the second game there were some tough chances that went down.

The boys have come around and said that they are going to work hard on their catching even more to make sure that doesn’t happen,’’ he said. Cook added that it is difficult to keep the same concentration level in a Test match but remained hopeful they will try to give their maximum against West Indies.

‘’That’s very difficult [ keeping concentration]. If someone can come up with a drill to keep the guys on the field for six hours and then hit them the catch at the end of six hours, then I’m all ears. But they’re professionals – a doctor in the last surgery of the day has to be the same as the doctor in the first surgery of the day. And you hope that they keep their observation and focus,’’ said Cook.

‘’The fielders are accountable when it comes to catching, bowlers are accountable when it comes to bowling. No one’s trying to drop any catches. They’re all fighting really hard for the bowler. Sometimes it doesn’t go your way.

But I think the one thing the guys have done well and the talk in the dressing room, is if you’re practising your catching hard and everyone can see that then we know that we’re not trying to drop the ball on purpose.

The guys are training really hard to get that rigt, so the bowlers are less frustrated when the catches go down,’’ he added.
