No plans for Test, says Soumya

Batsman Soumya Sarkar said on Sunday that he is not taking any extra pressure to perform in Test cricket.
Soumya has beeen in and out of the Test squad for not being able to perform consistently in the longer format.
The left-handed batsman, who has been scoring runs regularly in the domestic circuit recently, was awarded for his consistency as he was included in the 13-member squad for the opening Test match against West Indies.
“I am not making any plans for Test because by doing so I will be putting extra pressure on myself,” Soumya told reporters at MA Aziz Stadium on Sunday.
“I have to survive the initial phase carefully as that will be the key to make some substantial contribution with the bat,” he added.
Soumya believes not thinking too much about getting his place back in the national team is paying good dividends, as it is helping him bat with a lot more ease and composure that eventually handed him a surprise call against Zimabbwe where he flourished with the bat to earn his second ODI century.
The left-handed batsman gave a good indication of returning to form with his scintillating hundred against Zimbabwe that helped BCB XI secure an eight-wicket win in the practice game ahead of the ODI series.
Soumya had worked with local coach Mohammad Salahuddin ahead of the NCL, where he was focusing on shot-selection and going closer to the ball when he is facing the slow-bowlers in particular.
Soumya looked not interested to divulge details of his individual training.
“It was just a personal session. Usually we have to play a lot of spinner in the NCL so worked on how to handle them better,” he said.
