Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said that additional responsibility in absence of Shakib Al Hasan encouraged him to deliver against Zimbabwe in the ongoing two-match Test series.
Taijul, who is going through a purple patch, continued to demonstrate his potential by returning figures of 5/107 against Zimbabwe in their first innings. It helped the hosts take a healthy lead of 218 as they bowled out their opponent for 304 runs after declaring at 522/7.

Taijul, who grabbed 11 wickets with two back-to-back five-wicket hauls in the previous Test match, did not take long to dictate terms against the opposition.
“Due to the absence of Shakib bhai, I’m getting more chances to bowl. If he was in the team, there would not be same type of additional responsibility on me. But I am really enjoying it,” Taijul told reporters in the press-conference in Mirpur.
In the absence of Shakib, Taijul was the most experienced bowler in the side and he delivered throughout the series when it mattered the most for the team which also backed the inability of other bowlers very much.
Taijul’s bowling figure of 6/108 and 5/62 in the first Test might explain little about his adequate responsibility but the most astonishing fact that he bowled total 68.1 overs in a low scoring Test match told everything about his toiling in the field.
