Naturally a batsman, brimming with confidence always, Brendan Taylor turned out to be a hopeless man when he thought of Taijul Islam effect during Zimbabwe’s batting in second innings.

With a hat-trick of fifer, Taijul so far bagged 16 wickets against Zimbabwe to emerge as their nemesis. Even in a pitch that didn’t offer enough bounce and turn, Taijul ripped through Zimbabwe’s middle order with five for 107 and looked to be more dangerous as the pitch is slowly but gradually deteriorating.
“We’re still behind. They’re 220 runs ahead. If I was Bangladesh I would bowl again because even if we get 300, Bangladesh chase 80. They might want to bat for two sessions, and we’re certainly behind. When a team gets 500, they very seldom lose. We needed to get at least 400 450 in this innings to give ourselves a real chance. We have to show a lot of character in our second innings, whenever that is, to try and win the series. Because it’s only going to get harder from tomorrow. If we go into day five, the wicket’s going to break up and it will make life extremely difficult. If Taijul gets five wickets in the first innings, second innings he’s going to be even harder to face,” Taylor said.
“Taijul is in some serious form. He’s stepped up into the gap with Shakib not being there. When they play together, they are a very strong attack. He’s done an incredible job, and the way Mushy (Mushfiqur Rahim) has played to face that many balls and show that sort of concentration and discipline, it was an incredible knock. We admired what he did. He’s batted us out of this game. It just shows his class as a player,” Taylor said.
