Mominul Haque said that he did not raise the bat when he reached fifty as he was focused on bailing out the team instead of thinking about his own mile stone. He notched up his seventh Test hundred to save the day for the hosts as they ended the day at 303-5.

Mominul’s ability as a batsman was never doubted since his arrival in the international arena but his recent form raised quite a few eyebrows as to whether the Test specialist tag really suits him.

The left-hander played on his own terms scored 80 runs from 77 balls in the second session to indicate his ability of playing shots all across the park. He was dropped on nine runs in the previous session after taking a cautious approach following a batting collapse that made them three down for 26 runs.

Mominul jumped into the air after completing his hundred that reflected the pressure he was going through. According to him, the only regret he is carrying is being unable to end the day staying at the crease.

“I think we were so focused on the job, we really didn’t think about getting to a fifty. It was the type of wicket where losing a wicket was always around the corner, so it was important that we were concentrating fully,” Mominul told reporters after the match.

“Once we got out of the tough situation, we felt more comfortable. I think reaching a hundred always makes you emotional. I didn’t know what I was going to do [to celebrate],” he added.
