Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque thanked teammate Mushfiqur Rahim for guiding him in the trying times against Zimbabwe in the series-deciding second Test in Dhaka on Sunday (November 11).
Together the duo put up Bangladesh’s record fourth-wicket partnership in Tests, by adding 266 runs after Bangladesh became 26/3 due to their ever-existing problem with the starts.

Mominul capitalized on Brian Chari’s mistake after he dropped the southpaw on nine runs. Mushfiqur then guided the Mominul on his way to a seventh Test hundred while also taking care of his own innings.
“Mushfiqur bhai guided me throughout my innings. I found out why he is one of the top five players in Bangladesh. It really affected me. I think his input was important for me,” said Mominul.
The left-hander made 161 runs before getting out, but Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 111 runs when the umpires called stumps.
Mominul regretted not staying at the crease till the end as his departure was followed by the dismissal of Taijul Islam who went to bat as night-watchman. However, Mominul considers the ton as one of the best innings of his life so far.
Bangladesh are desperate to make a strong comeback after losing the first Test. They will look to add more to their 303-run total after ending the first day on a high thanks to the centuries from Mominul and Mushfiq.
