Mashrafe and Shakib join politics

Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, along with Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan, wants to contest the upcoming 11th parliamentary election, confirmed the ruling party members.
The top two cricketers of the country will collect the Awami League’s nomination papers from the party’s election conducting office at Dhanmondi at 10 am tomorrow, Md Abu Naser, senior information officer of the ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, confirmed reporters.

“Mashrafe and Shakib today talked to Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader [the minister for Road Transport and Bridges] about this over phone,” he said.
“Mashrafe and Shakib will collect the nomination forms in order to contest in the election from Narail and Magura constituencies, respectively,” the official added.
Both Mashrafe and Shakib were not available for making any comments in this regard.
