Zimbabwe spin sensation Brandon Mavuta was unfazed by Bangladesh’s expertize in dealing with the spin bowling at their home condition, stating that the good ball always gives the batsmen headache.

Mavuta was the unlikely hero in the first Test against Bangladesh after his subdued performance in the ODI series even though Zimbabwe pinned high hopes on him, following his sparkling debut against South Africa.

Nonetheless the Southern African nation didn’t give up hopes on him and handed him the debut in the first Test against Bangladesh. He was also not up to the mark in the first innings, finishing with figures of 6-0-27-0.

As Bangladesh required 321 runs to win the Test and ended the third day on 26 for no loss, Zimbabwe coach Lalchand Rajput backed his spin trio—Mavuta, Wellington Masakadza and Sikandar Raza, to cause the havoc in Bangladesh’s batting line up.

They preciously lived up to the Rajput’s expectation with Mavuta in the fore, claiming four for 21 runs in 10 overs after Raza ripped through the top order.

Mavuta’s turnaround is massive, considering his ODI and first innings performance but the youngster said that he focused on to keep the process right.

“I know they (Bangladesh) are good players off spin bowling. I am not forgetting my processes. If my processes is right, i think good ball is a good ball whoever you bowling to,” said Mavuta.

“As a spinner, that's one of your strength, you need to be able to change your pace, try to work out what the batsman is trying to do. That something came out on that day. I am quite happy.”

Nazmul Hossain Shanto was Mavuta’s maiden Test wicket and he cherished it.
