Zimbabwe batsman Sean Williams said that the opening Test was evenly poised between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Sylhet on Saturday.

Zimbabwe made 236-5 in the opening day and they are looking to make some quick runs against the host in the second morning.

He thinks that the game is still very much balanced and if they can put a total over 400 runs they can create an opportunity.

“I think it is pretty par to be honest. If we had played spin better, scored a little bit quicker, I’d say we would be ahead. It would have been nice if we were 250-260, four down. But a nice big total here could make it hard to bat last out there. It is the plan, and hopefully it comes through,” Williams told reporters.

“I think it is an excellent Test wicket. A couple of the balls are turning and bouncing, some keeping low and skidding through. I think after day three or four, you will see more turn, and a bit more up-down bounce. It is a dry wicket so it will probably be a little lower and slower.

“I think it was an important toss to win, especially considering how it will start spinning later in the game. But again, it is crucial to make sure you have the runs in the first innings,” he said

“It depends how slowly we start tomorrow morning. It is going to be a crucial partnership between PJ Moor and Regis Chakabva. I’d say we are looking at 300 to 350, but I am pretty sure we will get bowled out before we declare unless we are scoring really quickly and get to 400. It is still a long way away,” he added.
