Shakib Al Hasan looks to be all set for a desert storm in the UAE as BCB's cricket operations chairman Akram Khan has confirmed that the all-rounder will be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the UAE T20x based on his physical fitness. The franchise-based tournament is scheduled to start on December 19 this year.

''There will be a medical report regarding Shakib. If there is no problem in it, and it seems to be positive, we will give him the NOC,'' BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan told reporters.

''Probably he cannot have an operation in one year time, while at present there is no pain [in his finger]. If he is medically fit, he can play [UAE T20x],'' he said.

Shakib is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program to recover from a long-standing finger injury that forced him out midway through Bangladesh's Asia Cup campaign. He is also out of the ongoing Zimbabwe-series due to the injury and could be sidelined in Bangladesh's next home-series against West Iindies as well.

Shakib's two-month medication period will end in December and he will have to resume playing to see if the infection in his finger recurs.

The 31-year-old has featured in top-flight T20 leagues like the Indian Premier League, the Pakistan Super League, and the Caribbean Premier League. And now he might add another feather to his illustrious cap by playing in the UAE T20x.
