Rangpur Division scored 230 runs, losing five wickets on the first day of their Tier 1 clash against Rajshahi Division in the National Cricket League.

Winning the toss in the fifth round of the tournament, Rajshahi decided to field first. Rangpur opener Rakin Ahmed top-scored for the side on day-1, with 79 runs to his name.

Naeem Islam also belted a half-century and remained unbeaten on 63 runs at the end of the first day. Top-order batsman Mahmudul Hasan made 36 runs before getting out while the rest of the batters failed to put up a substantial innings.

Naeem will resume the second day’s play for Rangpur, along with Dhiman Ghosh who has scored 13 runs so far. With five wickets still remaining, Rangpur will undoubtedly look to post a daunting total against the visiting side.

Sunzamul Islam topped the wicket-taking chart for Rajshahi on the first day of the clash as he took three scalps while Delwar Hossain and Shafiqul Islam also got one wicket each.

The two teams faced each other in the second round of the tournament and the game had ended in a draw.

Another Tier 1 clash between Barisal Division and Khulna Division saw the first day getting washed out.
