Bangladesh women’s team manager Nazmul Abedin believes Tigress can show their potential in the upcoming ICC Women’s World Twenty20 on the back of their spinners.

Bangladesh are flying to West Indies to play the tournament and will be keen to make their presence felt in the global platform.

“We saw the spinners’ importance in South Africa and later in Ireland as well. These conditions are not aren’t similar to ours, but the girls have done a lot better there. So I do not think why they can’t do it in the West Indies,” Nazmul told reporters ahead of the tournament, on Monday.

“England, Australia, and West Indies have some weaknesses against spin and we have several genuine wicket-taking spinners in our team and we saw it against India or Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

“We have Kubra, Rumana, and Nahida. She [Nahida] was our main player in the Asia Cup. Fahima is doing great legspin right now. In the last match, she bowled all the six balls very well. The spin attack is very good,” he said.

Nazmul said that the Tigresses are aware of their strength at the moment and that, he believes, is a big step forward towards achieving their goal.

“One difference is that earlier, they were worried about their abilities. They did not know what they could do. Now they know what they can do or what they cannot do. Our spinners are very mature now, it's a positive side,” said Nazmul.

“We should not evaluate our standards by the Asia Cup-win. We know about every team at the World Cup [World T20], there will be a tough fight. If we can win two matches, we will go to the semifinals.

“So, playing competitive cricket in every match is important. It is important to tell the world that we can play this level of cricket. So I think it will be a big goal for us,” he added
