Khulna Division posted enough runs on the board despite their middle-order frailties against Rangpur Division in their Tier 1 clash in the National Cricket League, at Khulna.
After being sent to bat first, Khulna lost an early wicket before Anamul Haque and Soumya Sarkar put up a brilliant 111-run partnership to turn things in their favor. Anamul left the crease after picking up his fifty but Soumya kept the pressure kept building the pressure on the opponents before Sajedul Islam, who took the first wicket, initiated a collapse in Khulna’s batting lineup.
Soumya laced eight boundaries and an over-boundary to score 76 runs before returning to the pavilion. Tushar Imran, Nurul Hasan, Afif Hossain – all fell cheaply.

Ziaur Rahman, the centurion from Khulna’s last game, again came to rescue the team and ended day-1 by remaining not out on 33 runs. Meanwhile, Mahedi Hasan was out scoring 37 runs as Mohammad Saddam got a wicket to his name.
Sajedul bagged a four-fer and Sanjit Saha also two wickets, but their opponents can still hope for a 300+ total when Ziaur resumes their innings on the second day.
