The Bangladesh national cricket team began their preparation for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The opening day was planned with several segments that also included a running-between-the-wickets session at the center wicket against his throw downs.

The urgency can be clearly understandable as the home team will miss the services of two of their leading batsman – Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal – due to their respective injuries.

As some new faces are likely to replace them in the middle, it would be unfair for the team management to expect similar stroke play that was offered by the duo.

The hosts will be looking to accumulate healthy runs on the board with minimal risk while the opponents will try to keep them from dealing in singles and doubles in order to put pressure on the young shoulders of the Bangladesh team, which is likely to prompt them to make mistakes.

In order to resist such possibilities, it is necessary to effectively rotate strikes in the middle overs which will eventually help them in posting a substantial total on the board.

Rhodes made it compulsory for every batsman to run between the wickets against the Englishman’s throw downs and that suggests that Bangladesh are well aware of it necessities. There have been many occasions when their lacking in this particular department was exposed as the batsmen are sometimes seen stranded at the wicket after being unable to hit boundaries.

Uncapped Fazle Mahmud was certainly surprised after being introduced in this specific session on his opening day with national team mates at SBNS.

“We were looking to rotate the strike [in this session],” Fazle told reporters after the morning session of opening day. “There were few new things which are minor in nature but we are working on it.”
