Not thinking about the World Cup right now: Mithun

Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Mithun is keenly looking forward to availing the next possible opportunity instead of thinking too far ahead.
Mithun, who returned to the squad after being in and out of the national set-up, left a long-lasting effect of his comeback with two half centuries in the just-concluded Asia Cup.
The way he batted and eased the pressure in both the games clearly indicates that his long domestic career has helped him mature a lot. He now looks prepared enough to handle the pressure of international cricket.
With the batting-order still not settled ahead of the World Cup it is easy to assume that he will do all the hard work to cement his place in the squad for the biggest global tournament of the game. However, Mithun said that he is not ready to think that far.
“I actually think on a match-by-match basis. One series [Asia Cup] is over, I'm thinking about the Zimbabwe series for the time being,” Mithun told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
“There is still a lot of time before the World Cup. I have to stay fit and perform in the meantime. There is a lot of things to do. If I keep doing well match-by-match, series-by-series, then I'll get a chance at the World Cup,” he said.
“Everyone dreams of playing at the World Cup, I am no exception, but there are many stages to cross before that,” he added.
Mithun asserted that he is looking to be a team-man rather than making personal goals as it never helped him succeed at any point of his career.
“I do not play with any personal goals and I never succeeded even when I had such goals. So, instead of looking at personal goals, I will have to try to work according to the team’s demand,” Mithun concluded.
