Vikings announce their availability

The Bangladesh Cricket Board said that they have managed to convince Chittagong Vikings to take part in the upcoming edition of Bangladesh Premier League.
It was reported earlier that Vikings emailed BCB regarding their unavailability in the tournament and wanted not to take part in country’s lone franchise-based Twenty20 competition.
However, BCB waited for the arrival of their owner from abroad before taking a final decision regarding them.
According to BCB officials the franchise eventually agreed to alter their stance and have finally submitted the list of retained players and confirmed their participation in the sixth edition of the tournament.
The franchise retained Bangladesh left-arm spinner Sanjamul Islam, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza, Afghanistan middle-order batsman Najibullah Zadran and New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi.
‘’They have submitted their list of players retained for the past season. It was not the right time for withdrawing the team as you know all the preparation has been taken for the upcoming season and the draft is set to take place later in the month. So we discussed this to the Vikings owners and they eventually confirmed their availability for the season,” confirmed BPL technical committee member and BCB director Jalal Younus.
The seven franchises were given September 30 deadline to submit the list of four retained players from last season with the players’ draft set to take place on October 25 in Dhaka.
