Questionable shot selection and lack of temperament are considered to be the major lacking of the juniors in the Bangladesh national team.
Their recent failures began with the openers, Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, as they were impatient and went out trying to pull and slash, respectively, against away-moving deliveries, while Mosaddek Hossain failed to make it count despite staying at the crease for long.

Middle-order batsman Mohammad Mithun, who impressed with a fifty against Sri Lanka in the tournament-opener also failed to live up to the expectation.
Liton has now failed in three innings since replacing Anamul Haque, who had also failed in seven innings opening the batting innings this year. On the other hand, Nazmul is yet to get settled in and get accustomed to the pressure of international cricket.
Except for Nazmul, the three other juniors cannot be pigeonholed as newcomers in the international arena considering Mithun have been around the senior team since 2014, and both Liton and Mosaddek have also been around for three years now.
The juniors have shown glimpse of their abilities on various occasions, but they somehow lack consistency. They need to come up for the betterment of the team and Mehidy’s innings against India indicates that if they have the will they can succeed.
The state of affair in the Tigers’ dressing room looked to get worse. As a result, they had to call back Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes – two experienced cricketers to Dubai in a bid to strengthen the fragile-looking batting unit.
