Bangladesh skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza said that country should always remember Tamim Iqbal for the brave effort that he displayed against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Bangladesh’s innings thought to be over when ninth wicket fell for 229 runs, but Tamim stunned to all to join Mushfiq and faced a ball in one hand to give the strike back to him.Mushfiq did not let Tamim’s heroics to be wasted as kept the strike in the remaining overs before he was finally dismissed in the last over.
Tamim, who was unbeaten on two, left the field earlier after he received blow in his wrist in the second over of the game.
“It was Tamim’s decision,’’ Mashrafee told reporters at the post-match press conference.
‘’One should remember Tamim for this match because anything could have happened and his career could have been affected,’’ said Mashrafee.

‘’Mushfiqur was boosted by his reappearance at that stage. Hats off to Tamim for going out to bat at that time,’’ he said.
Mashrafee also did not ruled out Tamim from the tournament.
“We still don’t know what’s going on with him. The scan has to be done again, in two days,’’ said Mashrafee.
‘’There’s a little fracture for sure, but we have to find out how bad it is,’’ he said.
‘’Not having him is a big blow but we have some players in the bank,’’ he added.
Mashrafee lauded Mushfiq to play one of the best ODI innings for his country as his career best 144 runs helped Tigers clinch a 137-run win.
Mushfiq defied his rib injury to hit sixth ODI century while Mohammad Mithun scored 63 off 68 balls to help Bangladesh post challenging 261 runs and a combined effort from the bowlers dismissed Sri Lanka for 124 runs in 35.2, their lowest total against Tigers in ODI’s format.
“I think it was one of the best ODI innings for Bangladesh. It came under pressure, losing two wickets and Tamim very early,’’ said Mashrafee.
‘’The way Mushfiqur finished was really good. Mithun handled the pressure very well. It is a great opportunity for our youngsters to establish themselves in the team,’’ he said.
‘’Mithun batted well today, so we need another young batsman to step up,’’ he added.
