Bangladesh captain Mashrafee bin Mortaza said that they are not looking too far ahead forward as they opted now to focus on the Asia Cup instead thinking much about the World Cup next year in England and Wales.
Bangladesh takes on Sri Lanka in the opening game of the Asia Cup and as five out 10 World Cup sides will compete in the Asia Cup alongside qualifiers Hong Kong it provides as opportunity to shape up their squad before the all-important global competition.

As far as Tigers are concerned winning an Asia Cup will be major boost for them as they success as they have never lifted the title despite reaching the final twice.
This has given Mashrafee an opportunity to view the tournament different unlike the skippers of other contenders, who will take it as part of their preparation for the World Cup.
‘The 2019 World Cup is still too far, it’s like 10 to 12 months,’ Mashrafee told reporters at the pre-tournament press conference in Dubai.
‘If you ask me about the Asia Cup, everyone in here would love to win the competition. After the tournament, everyone will play different series and I think everything will be counted to the World Cup. Yes, it’s a process and every team will love to go tournament or series by series,’ he added.
Mashrafee acknowledged that the Asia Cup is very important tournament for all participating nations, who would not think of wasting the opportunity to do their World Cup homework.
