Anderson achieves rare feat, Kohli falls in ICC Rankings

The ICC rankings for individual players have undergone a host of changes post India’s defeat to England in the recently concluded Test match at Lord’s.
Interestingly, James Anderson became the first England player in 38 years to have breached the revered 900 points mark in the ICC rankings. Moreover, Anderson is just the seventh English player to have achieved this feat.
Anderson’s bowling performances in the Lord’s test attracted applause, and deservingly so. The 36-year-old demonstrated his craft and grit, the guile and the art of swing bowling that he possesses.
Accordingly, he claimed five wickets and four wickets in the first and second innings respectively.

Anderson’s performance takes him a level up compared to the second placed Kagiso Rabada who is 21 points behind the seasoned fast bowler.
Virat Kohli, the India captain had jumped to the top spot after his brilliant knocks at Edgbaston. However, has again dropped down to the second spot, losing his place to banned Australia batsman Steve Smith in ICC Test batsmen's rankings.
Kohli was troubled with a recurring back injury in the second match, and it reflected in his performances as the 29-year-old was dismissed for 23 and 17 runs in both innings.
Chris Woakes was drafted into the playing XI in place of Ben Stokes, and Woakes registered a match-winning performance by scoring 137 unbeaten runs.
He scalped four wickets, but Woakes has now claimed the 50th spot in batsmen rankings, courtesy of his century-laden knock.
