Sri Lanka were ready to follow Pakistan's footsteps

Sri Lanka had nearly become the only second team after Pakistan to forfeit a Test match. According to a report in Cricbuzz, Sri Lanka were prepared to forfeit the second Test against West Indies in St. Lucia but mediation from Colombo prevented them from doing so.
The incident took place on second day as the ball was changed and West Indies were awarded with five runs. The Sri Lankans refused to set foot on the field to start day three. However, following a two hour delay, the match finally began, with the SLC saying that the players are playing under protest.
Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal was charged for breaching ICC’s code of conduct by tampering with the ball.

The report further added, telephone calls from SLC officials - including CEO Ashley de Silva - ensured the players were back on the field to resume play.
Sri Lanka’s Sports Ministry, which has been overseeing SLC’s affairs, also had to intervene and Sports Minister Faizer Musthapha had assured players SLC's fullest support but had requested not to forfeit the Test, to maintain the spirit of the game.
“The players and the team management were adamant that the game should be forfeited as the match officials were accusing them without showing any concrete evidence. But they were informed by SLC to not to forfeit the game,” an SLC source told Cricbuzz.
The only time a team forfeited a Test match was when Pakistan got punished for ball-tampering on the fourth day of a Test against England in 2006. Umpire Darrell Hair had to call the game off by removing the bails and awarded England the win after then Pakistan captain Inzamam Ul Haque refused to take field.
