Mahmudullah to take over T20 captaincy?

After an unsuccessful campaign against the Afghanistan national team, Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shkaib Al Hasan has been facing criticism over his role as a T20 captain.
Apart from a win against Sri Lanka – which helped Bangladesh storm into the final of the Nidahas Trophy in March – the team has had nothing positive to offer under Shakib’s captaincy. Since Mashrafe’s retirement from T20Is, Bangladesh lost six of the seven 20-over games they have played under Shakib’s stewardship.
According to sources, Shakib’s future, as the T20I skipper, was discussed in BCB’s executive committee meeting held on Monday. Mahmudullah Riyad’s name was also suggested as a replacement for Shakib in the T20 captaincy role. However, it is understood that Shakib will remain as the captain in Tests.

Bangladesh national team will fly out to the Caribbean on June 23 to take on West Indies in a bilateral series, which will comprise of two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is.
The series will start with the first Test on July 4 and the first T20I is scheduled to be held on July 31. The squads are yet to be announced for the forthcoming matches.
Bangladesh will miss the service of Mustafizur Rahman in the first Test. The fast-bowler is currently recovering from a toe injury sustained during the IPL last month.
The upcoming series will be Bangladesh head coach—Steve Rhodes’ maiden assignment in the new role.
