15th June - The deadline to appoint new Bangladesh coach

Bangladesh are due to visit India in order to take on Afghanistan in a three-T20I series in the first week of June. And like their last three assignments (two tri-nation series and a bilateral series), the Tigers will once again play without a permanent head coach.
The governing body for the game in the country, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has been finding the right person for the job since Chandika Hathurusingha stepped down as the head coach in November last year.
Gary Kirsten has been roped in by the BCB as a consultant. The South African is currently working to find a new head coach and according to BCB president Nazmul Hasan, the board will try to sign a new head coach before June 15.
“I think, within the next 15-20 days, before West Indies tour, we’ll be done with the full setup for the national side, including the selection of the head coach,” he said. “You can’t select a coach just before a tour. So, we’ve targeted 15th June as a deadline for deciding on the coaching roles.”

Speaking about Kirsten, Nazmul said that the World Cup-winning coach keeps a good knowledge about Bangladesh’s cricket.
“He (Kirsten) has a good idea about our cricket. He thinks there is a good opportunity for cricket in Bangladesh. If we can take the decisions in a level-headed manner, then it will be good for Bangladesh's cricket,” said Hasan.
BCB is currently having a tough time finding the head coach and the some of the candidates for the role have added to their difficulties by showing reluctance to coach the team for the longest version of international cricket. Hence, the board has decided to have different coaches in across different formats or it will hire specialist coaches for different coaches who will be working under one head coach for that matter.
“Most of the coaches we’ve talked to aren’t interested (in coaching the team) in Tests. They ready to coach the team for ODIs and T20Is.
“We need one head coach. It is good to have different coaches for red and white ball cricket. Or we should have specialist coaches across all formats under one head coach. The way the game has been moving ahead nowadays, if we stick to the same mentality from the past then it will not be good,” said the BCB president.
