Australian legend wants Jason Gillespie over Justin Langer

Since the resignation of Darren Lehman as the coach of the Australian cricket team, the search for the next person to lead the team has been on. While Ricky Ponting and Jason Gillespie are among the names considered, Justin Langer is said to be leading the race against his two former team-mates.
Ian Chappell, however, wants Jason Gillespie to take the throne of the next Australia coach. Gillespie, who took 259 wickets from 71 Tests and also has a double-hundred to his name in the format, understands the game very well, according to Chappell, and held a lot of integrity as a player.
"He's got a good understanding of cricket," Chappell told Macquarie Sports Radio. When you talked to him while he was playing he was very interested in the history of the game.
"So I thought he played the game with a lot of integrity. He was obviously a very good bowler.”

As a coach, Gillespie’s credentials are incredibly good. Having coached Yorkshire from the second division to winning the County Championship for two years in a row, Jason Gillespie does have the necessary achievements to be the next Aussie coach.
It is for this reason, along with Gillespie’s demeanour of integrity – something that is seen as a highly imperative trait for the next Baggie Green coach to have – that Ian Chappell believes that he should be the next coach of the Australian cricket team.
"He's had a lot of success in that position in some different position. Yorkshire obviously, a hell of a lot of success there," continued Chappell.
"I just find him a decent bloke. The sort of guy ... that doesn't get in the way but he's helpful in his own quiet way."
Cricket Australia are set for a rendezvous on Friday to discuss the potential coach of Australia. With Langer leading the way, there is a chance that all three are hired for three different formats should the management decide to distribute the workload.
