Cricket Australia react to new coach reports

After a report from West Australian newspaper stirred the cricket world with news of Justin Langer taking over as the coach of Australia, Cricket Australia have come out with an official statement to deny the claim while also affirming that the process of hiring a new coach is still ongoing.
According to the official statement, no-one has yet been appointed as the head coach of Australia with the members of the board meeting on Friday to discuss the replacement for the recently-departed Darren Lehmann.
"The process to be undertaken for the appointment of a new coach will be discussed and agreed at the CA board meeting this Friday," a CA spokesperson said in a statement.

"No appointment has been made, and nor will any candidate be put to the board for ratification on Friday. We expect to have a clearer understanding of the approach and appointment timelines following this meeting."
Earlier, there rumours of Justin Langer becoming the new coach of the Baggie Greens. It won’t be surprising if it turns out to be true, however, as he has acted in that role in a stand-in appointment last year when Australia played Sri Lanka in a T20I series.
The other two favourites for the job are Ricky Ponting and Jason Gillespie, but given that Langer has been successful with Perth Scorchers, as he has won three Big Bash titles with them, he is said to be in the frontrunner for the Australian hot seat.
