Legendary Pakistan spinner wants to work with Sri Lanka

With the arrival of Chandika Hathurusingha, one could have always expected to see some changes in the Sri Lankan setup. The Sri Lankan is known to work with highly-knowledgeable people in his staff and has eyed former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed to take over as the spin-bowling coach.
Ever since the retirement of Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka have failed to produce quality spinners. While Rangana Herath has done very well in the longest format of the game, his age means that his retirement is closer than people could imagine.

Akila Dhananjaya’s emergence has brought hope in the hearts of the Sri Lankans, but they need someone to groom the talent that the youngster possesses.
Sri Lanka endured a horrific 2017, their worst year by all means, after losing every series in the calendar sans against Pakistan in UAE. After Hathurusigha’s arrival, the team won the tri-series, Test series and T20I series in Bangladesh but then couldn’t even reach the final of the Nidahas trophy held on their own ground.
So there is still a lot of work to do for the Lankans and, according to Cricinfo, are eying a spin-bowling coach with Mushtaq Ahmed also interesting in taking the role. He has previously worked with England and Pakistan and will look forward to using his experience to groom the young talents of Sri Lanka.
