Nasir suffers from ACL, out for a long time

The general answer to what the most dreadful injury a player could suffer from is going to have a common response from everyone: anterior cruciate ligament injury. Anyone that watches a bit of football will know that sportspersons that have suffered this gruesome injury have never returned as the same players.
And now, it has been confirmed that Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain is suffering from this very injury that has previously ruined the careers of many players. Like the comedy of irony that life is, the man that led Abahani Limited to its 19th Dhaka Premier League title was inflicted with the injury while playing football.
“We were suspecting that he got inflicted by a ligament injury and the MRI has now confirmed that he has completely ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments. Since it has been torn completely, we have decided that he has to be operated,” BCB official doctor Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying.

“It will take him about six months to return to action after being operated.”
Dr. Debashish also stated that the operation could happen in Thailand or Australia but the decision hasn’t been taken yet.
While the official word reveals that Nasir got injured during fitness training, other
rumours suggest that he injured himself while playing in Sirajgonj after a close friend invited him to do so. Whatever be the case, the fact now is that he will have to go through a long and grueling road of recovery.
Anterior cruciate ligament injuries take a lot away from a player. Not only will Nasir Hossain miss a lot of action over the next year, it will also drain him mentally. With this injury, it would take a huge effort – and a bit of miracle – for Nasir to make it to the World Cup squad next year.
