Cricket Australia to announce decision on Tuesday

The future of Steve Smith with the Australian cricket team seems to be hanging in the balance with Cricket Australia to announce a decision on Tuesday, March 26. There are reports hovering around that Smith could face a life ban for his part in the ball tampering saga.
In the least, the captaincy of the Australian could be stripped off from him. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland mentioned that he will be flying to South Africa on Monday evening and is expected to reach there on Tuesday, after which a verdict will be given on Steve Smith and David Warner.
He said: “I am traveling to Johannesburg this evening and will arrive Tuesday morning local time to meet Iain to understand the findings of the investigation to that point and to determine recommended outcomes.
“We know Australians want answers and we will keep you updated on our findings and next steps, as a matter of urgency.”

Not only are Smith’s and Warner’s place in the Australian cricket team in scrutiny, but their future in the Indian Premier League is also under the microscope. Both of them are the respective captains of their IPL franchises and could have that honour snatched from them.
There were also rumours of Smith flying to Australia after the conclusion of the third Test. They were, however, refuted by an official statement from Cricket Australia.
“Cricket Australia can confirm that all members of the touring Test squad currently remain in South Africa.
“At this stage, players will remain in South Africa to assist CA with inquiries.”
