Australian government want Steve Smith dropped from captaincy

Things have blown apart for Steven Smith and co. after his admission to tampering the ball. Even the Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, expressed his disgust at the incident by labeling it as a “shocking disappointment."
Meanwhile, the Australian government has called for Steve Smith to be stripped off his captaincy because of the incident. The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Chair John Wylie, the ASC Board, and CEO Kate Palmer spoke for the Australian government and called for stark action against the team.
"The ASC condemns cheating of any form in sport," a statement from it read. "The ASC expects and requires that Australian teams and athletes demonstrate unimpeachable integrity in representing our country.

"Given the admission by Australian captain Steve Smith, the ASC calls for him to be stood down immediately by Cricket Australia, along with any other members of the team leadership group or coaching staff who had prior awareness of, or involvement in, the plan to tamper with the ball. This can occur while Cricket Australia completes a full investigation."
In the meantime, Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland has promised to carry out a further investigation over the incident. Everything signals towards a bad end for Steve Smith it seems.
