England all-out for 58, avoid embarrassing feat

England are one of the best team in the limited overs’ format of the game. When it comes to Tests, however, they are an entirely different team. After losing the Ashes Test series 4-0, England took on Australia’s neighbours, New Zealand, at Eden Park, Auckland, and crumbled for an embarrassing 58.
At one point, England were batting at 23/8 and had a real chance to bundle out for under 26 runs, which is the lowest score in an innings in Tests. It would have been a perfect revenge for the Kiwis had they managed to get the Three Lions out for less than 26 because on March, 1955, England ripped New Zealand apart and bowled them out for 26 runs.
That match, too, happened in Auckland, which goes on to show how circular life truly is. An innings of 33 runs from Craig Overton saved England from the blushes as he took the team from 27/9 to 58.

Trent Boult was the bowler that inflicted so much damage as he took six wickets and Tim Southee took the rest of the four wickets to complete the rout. It also should be noted that the Kiwis didn’t use another bowler apart from these two.
