Dinesh Karthik takes the road of humility

The talk of the hour now is Dinesh Karthik. Despite the fact that the Nidahas trophy wasn’t seen in a very important light by the Indians, the wicketkeeper-batsman’s exploits in it have helped raise him towards the limelight.
With 34 runs required off the last two overs, Karthik slammed his team to a victory. It subsequently drew comparisons with India’s other wicketkeeper-batsman, MS Dhoni, as he too is renowned for his finishing abilities.
Karthik, however, believes that Dhoni is way superior to him in this regard and labeled it as “unfair” to be compared with him.
"When it comes to Dhoni -- I am studying in a university where he is the topper. He is one of the guys I have always looked up to. It is unfair to compare me with him," Karthik was quoted as saying by DNA India.
Despite making his international debut three months before MS Dhoni, Karthik has had an erratic journey with the Men in Blue. Dhoni, meanwhile, was not only a successful player with the team but ended up being one of its best captains ever.

"His (Dhoni) journey has been totally different and my journey is a different one. He is a terrific guy. He is somebody who used to be reserved, shy. Today, he is a person, who is really vocal in helping the youngsters. I feel these comparisons are very unfair. As I said, he is probably a topper in a university, where I am studying. I am just happy in the space I am in," Karthik said.
With all the attention now directed at him, Karthik admits that it feels good to be in the midst of light and credited “good karma” for his current ride with lady luck.
"It feels good that all the attention is on me. All the good karma and good things I have done over the years helped me hit that six. It is just that the shot went for a six... probably the two mm extra that it went for it became a six.
"It is hard for me to put in words. I am just happy to play this sport. When you play domestic cricket, it is a hard grind. To suddenly get so much attention feels so good but you also know that you want this to be a start of something special," he added.
