Bangladesh captain ruled out of Nidahas Trophy

Bangladesh Test & T20I skipper Shakib AL Hasan has been ruled out of the Nidahas Trophy after missing two successive series due to his finger injury. Mahmudullah Riyad will once again lead the side in the tri-nation series that also involves Sri Lanka and India.
Last week the BCB picked a 16-man squad with Mehidy Hasan Miraz as Shakib's cover. However, the ace all-rounder has finally been replaced by keeper-batsman Liton Das. Liton has been very good with the bat recently in the ongoing DPL.
BCB’s chairman of cricket operations, Akram Khan reportedly said, “Shakib will be traveling to Australia for treatment and that’s why he will not be traveling with the side for the Nidahas Trophy.”
Shakib has recently been to Bangkok in order to get a second opinion from experts. He might recover at some stage of the upcoming tournament but he will need enough time to get back into playing.

“We will give him the time, as long as he takes to get ready,” said interim Bangladesh coach Courtney Walsh. “When you have a world-class player like Shakib, you give him every opportunity to get fit.”
“He is a hard player to replace overnight. He does everything – bat, bowl, field, and captain. As soon as he is well enough to play, we will have to get him there,” he added.
