‘The Tigers are going through tough time’ - Mashrafe
Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has said that Bangladesh team are going through a tough time and expected that the Tigers will perform well in the upcoming tournament in Sri Lanka.
It’s been a year since the 34-year-old retired from the shortest form of international cricket. There were speculations surrounding his return in T20Is and the Tiger captain has denied every chance of him playing the 20-over game for Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh team haven’t had a good time recently. They lost in all three series, including a tri-nation series, against Sri Lanka and will be facing the same team along with India in Sri Lanka.
He said, “Tough times will always be there. It has to be controlled with calmness and the works on the ground have to be done properly.”
“While going through bad times, everything becomes unstable, and here it happens quicker and more frequently. Again, when we play better, everything starts falling into place.
Actually, we are going through a difficult phase and we are not sure if Shakib will be fit enough to play. I think, at this moment the team is under a lot of pressure, there is no need for some unnecessary pressure. Hopefully, the team will play well there,” Mashrafe added.
India have rested four of their regular squad members ahead of the Nidahas Trophy. However, Mashrafe thinks that India will still remain a tough opponent due to the kind of experience the other players have.
“It will be very difficult but we have to fight. Whatever team India has, they get the taste of playing at an international level in the amount of IPL and other domestic T-20 matches they play. Virat Kohli is not in the team, but those who are there are strong enough,” he concluded.
