Perth retain top spot with another win


Perth Scorchers picked up yet another win in this season by defeating Hobart Hurricanes. Hobart lost the match by 5 wickets.
Winning the toss, Perth opted to bowl. Hurricanes lost their first wicket as D’Arcy Short got out scoring 11 runs. Opener Mathew Wade made 31 runs and their captain George Bailey scored 37 runs.
Bailey and Simon Milenko built a 70-run partnership after Ben McDermott and Daniel Christian got dismissed early. Milenko remained not out on 66 and helped his team to post 60 runs off the last 5 overs.
Hobart Hurricanes registered a total of 167 runs losing 5 wickets. Ashton Agar and Mathew Kelly picked 2 scalps apiece while Joel Paris bagged a wicket.

Perth Scorchers chased the target with 4 balls remaining. Their opener Sam Whiteman got out scoring 1 run. Another opener Michael Clinger made 17 runs before getting out bowled by Jofra Archer. Hilton Cartwright scored the same before Christian bowled him out.
Adam Voges scored 11 runs before returning to the pavilion following a runout. Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner picked up a half-century each. Bancroft was dismissed by Tymal Mills on 54 runs. Turner remained unbeaten on 50 after hitting a boundary to finish off the chase.
Agar remained unbeaten at the other end scoring 11 runs. He received the Man of the Match award for his all-round performance.
Perth Scorchers will take on Adelaide Strikers on 25th January and Hobart Hurricanes will face Melbourne Stars on 27th January.
