Angelo Matthews to be fit for Bangladesh series

This will come as a great news for the Sri Lanka camp as
Angelo Matthews is likely to get fit before the upcoming tri-nation series in
Bangladesh that also features Zimbabwe. The Sri Lanka team are due to arrive in the
nation on the 13th of January and will see this news as a major boost to
their chances in the series.
The Lankans are currently without a captain after it was
decided that Thisara Perera will no longer lead the ODI team. Dinesh Chandimal
was supposed to succeed him, but with the resurgence of Matthews, there is a
good chance that he would once again be tasked with the responsibility to lead
the Lankans in the ODIs.
Sri Lanka had a terrible 2017 as they lost a majority of the series
played throughout the year, with the only exception being that 2-0 Test series
win against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

The lack of leaders in the dressing room has been shocking
for the Lankans given that they boasted figures like Kumar Sangakkara and
Mahela Jayawardena at one point in their history. However, with the arrival of
Chandika Hathurusingha, things might finally work with Matthews as the captain,
who resigned from the post after an embarrassing defeat to Zimbabwe.
The tri-nation series is scheduled to begin from the 15th of January.
