Smith clears 6000 to crush England's hopes

The battle of pride has been pretty much of a bad experience for the English as they are going through a 3-0 deficit in the ongoing Ashes series. After managing a draw in the 4th Test, their performance following the 2nd day of the last clash in the series is indicating that their opponents might end up winning it 4-0.
Starting the day on 233 runs for 5 wickets, England were stopped at 346. Australian spearhead Mitchell Starc gave his team a breakthrough on day-2 by scalping the wicket of Dawid Malan. Dawid once again failed to convert his half-century into a three-digit score by returning to the pavilion on 62 runs.
The next three batsmen played decent innings before leaving the pitch. Moeen Ali made made 30 runs and Tom Curran clubbed 39 and both were dismissed by Pat Cummins.
Stuart Broad played an innings of 31 runs before Lyon bagged his wicket. Mason Crane was run out on 4 runs and that concluded the 1st innings of batting for England.

Coming on to the pitch to bat, Australia experienced a blow as Cameron Bancroft's wicket was picked up by Stuart Broad in the second over. Bancroft was out for a duck and then Usman Khawaja came to bat.
The second wicket fell as David Warner got out facing a delivery from James Anderson. Warner picked up a well-deserved fifty before leaving the ground.
Steve Smith is once again carrying Australia to a positive direction as he ended the day on 44 runs remaining unbeaten. Today he became the second-quickest to tally 6,000 test runs. Smith joined the Caribbean great Garry Sobers as the second-fastest to reach the milestone in just 111 innings. Only Don Bradman reached the 6,000-run mark quicker, from just 68 innings.
Usman Khwaja has accompanied his leader by remaining not out with an astounding knock of 91 runs. Usman and Smith has built a 107-run partnership so far and will look forward to adding as much runs as they can to their total of 193 runs tomorrow.
At this point, the English bowlers will need to put up a good display to crush the Australian batting line-up. Otherwise, the Sydney Cricket Ground will end up witnessing another Aussie win.
