Sachin Tendulkar was not allowed to speak

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar could not give his first
speech in Indian Council of States as the Rajya Sabha(Council of States) was adjourned because of overly raucous
protests from the Indian National Congress members.
The former Indian cricketer was nominated to the upper house of the Parliament by
the UPA government in 2012. Yesterday he was going to initiate a short
duration discussion on the right to play and the future of sports in India.
As he stood up to deliver his speech, Congress members were on their feet shouting. The members were seeking an explanation from PM Modi over "false" allegations he made against his predecessor Manmohan Singh. They have been disrupting the House proceedings with the same urge since the Parliament convened for the winter session last week.

The Bharat Ratna awardee tried to speak quite a few times,
but his voice remained unheard because of the bizarre situation going on around
him. Several pleas of letting Mr. Tendulkar speak went unheeded too.
Mr. Venkaiah Naidu reminded the members about the live
telecast of the procedings several times saying the nation was watching.
Finally, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings for yesterday as well.
Mr. Naidu also ordered the live telecast to be cut off.
According to him, the country should not see an acclaimed individual being
prevented from speaking.
Following the suspension of the proceedings, BJP MP Jaya
Bachchan reportedly said, "He (Sachin Tendulkar) has earned name for India
at the world stage, it is a matter of shame that he was not allowed to speak
even when everyone knew it was on today's agenda. Are only politicians allowed
to speak?"
