Australian legend reveals way to get Joe Root’s wicket

As if the chances of England making a comeback to the series
wasn’t dim already, Josh Hazlewood has revealed the advice given by Mitchell
Johnson about how to get the wicket of Joe Root. Indeed, Australian pacer is
already in good form and will look to take the England captain’s wicket.
Speaking to the reporters on Tuesday in Perth, Hazlewood
quoted Mitchell Johnson’s advice and spilled the beans to the press. Johnson,
who wreaked havoc against the Englishman four years, visited the Australian
training camp and gave advice to the youngsters.
“[Johnson said to] Bowl fast and keep bowling short,"
Hazlewood told reporters.
"He mentioned he saw a few things similar to 13/14 (in
how England are playing). Those guys are always good to talk to about past
experiences."
Hazlewood then stated that the Aussie bowlers are always on
the lookout for Joe Root’s wicket as he is the best batsman in the team.
"All the bowlers want that wicket and there's obviously
a couple of key ones which we've talked about," Hazlewood said.

"Joe is the key, he can hold the innings together and
score runs pretty freely when he gets some poor bowling his way, so everyone
has to be ready when he comes in and stop that quick 20 or 30 runs early.
"Still the key to him is bowling your best ball more
often than not and hopefully keep the runs to a minimum and keep taking his
wicket," he added.
The Australian pacer then went on to reveal that he is
improving as a bowler and that his length, especially, is something that he
would “work on” to further improve.
"I'm getting
better as time goes on," he said. "Probably just my length (was
better) I think, my length especially on the last day, so obviously would try
to continue to work on that and I think it's on the rise. So, hopefully keep
getting better."
All-rounder, Mitchell Marsh, has been called up by the
Australian team as Peter Handscomb’s batting woes continue. When asked about
his inclusion, Hazlewood gave a diplomatic answer.
"You always want
an all-rounder but at the same time you want those runs at No. 6,"
Hazlewood said. "I think at this stage the bowlers are pretty fresh and
we've got another break after this so it's obviously up to the selectors and
what they feel."
The pitch at WACA is renowned for helping the pacers with –
especially in the earlier years – and it was being expected that the pitch for
the next Ashes will be sort of a nostalgia for the pacers. Hazlewood, however,
didn’t share the same view.
"Been pretty flat to be honest, especially the New Zealand game (in 2015), there were a couple of big scores there," he said. "Hopefully it has some pace to it, but over the last few years it hasn't been too good."
