Former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who successfully led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL title twice, has named the player to watch out for in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League and he is none other than a young player from West Indies –Nicholas Pooran.
The player has already been considered as the next big thing in Windies cricket by Chris Gayle and he will be seen playing for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020 starting from September 19 in UAE.

While speaking during a discussion on Star Sports' chat show Cricket Connected, Gambhir said, "For me, Nicholas Pooran is the young player I would like to watch in this IPL. We talk about AB de Villiers as a 360-degree player but Nicholas Pooran has all types of shots.”
He further added that Pooran can play the reverse sweep, normal sweep and any kind of big shots with ease. And according to him, Anil Kumble – the head coach of Kings XI Punjab – will bring the best out of Pooran.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris has also praised Pooran and feels that he needs to be given a bigger role from the IPL team. Styris also feels that Pooran should bat up in the order. Styris added, "He needs to be moved up, not quite to the top of the order but certainly given a majority of the deliveries in the innings.”
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab will start their IPL 2020 campaign against Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals in Dubai whereas the season will begin with the game between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on September 19.
