Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s operation on his left-thumb “wasn’t great success” according to a report from Deccan Chronicle. The 24-year-old suffered from a thumb injury while playing against Ireland and had to subsequently sit out of the ODI series against England.
He went under the knife in England but the surgery wasn’t much of a success.
"It is a displaced fracture on the left-hand thumb. From what I know, the operation wasn't a great success," the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source told DC.

However, Bumrah has been named for the Test squad but he is likely to miss the first part of the series. Meanwhile, the source believes since his injury has been on his non-bowling hand, he could be gambled with in case of an emergency.
"I guess technically he is out for 3-4 weeks but being a bowler and injury in his non-bowling hand, the team management might gamble if there is an emergency or they can make him to play with the bandages," the source added.
Finally, the source also added that fitness tests should have multiple tests to the evaluate the player’s physical condition instead of just the one to check the endurance of cricketers.
"In my opinion, fitness tests should be mandatory but the word Tests means a number of tests," he said.
"There should be a series of tests conducted with test different parameters. Since all the players are flown specially to Bangalore for the test, I'm sure there is enough time to conduct multiple tests and assess the player completely and not only on endurance," he concluded.
