Shastri speaks about Dhoni’s supposed retirement claims

India coach Ravi Shastri has quashed claims of MS Dhoni’s retirement following the former Indian captain’s actions at the end of the third game. After the conclusion of the match, Dhoni asked the umpire for the ball as he took it to the dressing room.
As a result, various media outlets interpreted that move as the wicketkeeper-batsman retiring from the game. However, team coach Ravi Shastri has come out and cleared the air by stating that the only reason why Dhoni did that was to show the ball to the bowling coach so that they get a good idea about the conditions in England.
"That's rubbish," he told Times of India. "MS is not going anywhere.

"MS wanted to show the ball to (bowling coach) Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like."
India lost the second and third ODI to give away the 1-0 lead they had gained after winning the first game against the hosts to win the series 2-1. The Indian team are now preparing for the Test series that begins from the first of August at Edgbaston and will end after the conclusion of the fifth Test at The Oval in September.
