Kemar Roach absent from WI ODI squad against Bangladesh

West Indian pacer Kemar Roach has not been named in West Indies’ ODI squad against Bangladesh. The speedster, who started the assault against Bangladesh in the first innings of the first Test by taking five wickets in as many overs, has been rested for the ODI series as a means to balance his workload.
Meanwhile, after almost three long years, Andre Russell has been called back to the ODI scene. The last time he played an ODI for West Indies was in November 2015 but will now feature for the Caribbean outfit in the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh.
Speaking about the selection, West Indies head coach Stuart Law has stated that this is beginning of their preparation of the 2019 World Cup and was happy with the return of Andre Russell.
"This is the start of our prep for 2019 CWC. Opportunities for players to stake a claim to be included in the squad. Great to have Dre Russ back as well. His explosive power and energy will breathe life into an already motivated squad," Stuart Law said.

"As we continue to prepare, there are only 16 ODIs leading up to the tournament. The panel will focus on giving opportunities from time to time to players that we believe can add value to the ODI team."
Bangladesh and West Indies will begin their three-match ODI series from the 22nd of July at Guyana.
