Bangladesh pacer injures himself in training

After losing the first Test in an embarrassing manner, the Bangladesh cricket team need to pick themselves up in the next Test in Sabin Park. However, just before the start of the second Test, it seems as though Bangladesh have been hit with a bad news as pacer Shafiul Islam has been ruled out of the upcoming match due to an ankle injury.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board’s official media release, the pacer had been inflicted with the injury while fielding at a practice match and has subsequently been ruled out of the second Test which begins later today.
An X-ray had been conducted and it showed no bone injury and according to team physio Thihan Chandramohan, his injury is a Grade 2 ligament sprain with medial bone bruising.

The media release also added that the player is likely to be out for the “next three to six weeks depending on further assessment” and that “he will remain with [the] team and travel home after the match” while also expecting “the acute swelling to reduce by that time.”
After Bangladesh’s poor display in the fast bowling department in the Antigua Test, there was a chance for Shafiul Islam to feature in Sabina Park but now he will have to witness the match from the sidelines.
