Mark Wood targeting Kohli’s wicket

Outspoken English pacer Mark Wood has revealed that he aspires to take the wicket of Virat Kohli in the upcoming ODI series as it will prove his credentials as a good bowler. The Indian captain had a torrid time the last time he came to England as James Anderson almost always the got the better of him.
The fact that the Indian superstar made only 134 runs from 5 Tests at an average of 13.4 in England in 2014 is a testament to how poor he was in that tour. And now, Mark Wood believes that he can get the better of Kohli since he has always taken big scalps in big matches.
“I haven’t bowled against him yet - I keep missing India with injury,” said Wood. "But for me, in big games, I’ve managed to get big wickets.
"There’s been Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, David Warner, Faf du Plessis, people like that.”

He also added that a player of Kohli’s stature should make him more focused in the upcoming matches while also admitting that the India captain is a “phenomenal” player who could actually get the better of him – but Wood won’t go down without a fight.
“I’ve managed to get big wickets so I’m hoping a huge player like Kohli will focus me again and I can try to get him out.
“I enjoy the challenge, it’s almost like I’ve got nothing to lose. I want to show people how good I can be and get this guy out.
“There’s no doubt he’s a phenomenal player and he may well get the better of me but I’ll be trying my hardest to give him everything I’ve got.”
England go into the ODI series as the rank one team in the world and would like to repeat the heroics they displayed in the Australia series.
